About Offcut

Every woodworker has a pile of offcuts that are too good to throw away and too awkward to use. Offcut turns that pile into a list of projects you can actually build.

How the diagrams are made

Each project has a cut list. We lay the parts out on your boards the way you'd mark them in the shop: crosscut to length first, then rip to width, leaving ⅛″ for each saw cut. On solid wood, parts always run with the grain. On plywood they can turn if that fits better.

Real sizes, not labels

A 2×4 is really 1½″ × 3½″, and a 1×6 is ¾″ × 5½″. Everything on the site uses actual dimensions, in inches or millimetres.

Where the plans come from

Every plan on the site is our own. Most come in several sizes, and each size's cut list is worked out from the dimensions rather than copied from anywhere.
